Punta Cana (PUJ) and Puerto Plata (POP)
Punta Cana is part of the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic. The area is best known for its beaches and balnearios, which face both the Caribbean and Atlantic. Did you know “Punta Cana” refers to the cane palms in the region, and literally means “Tip of the White Cane Palms?” And the beaches are superb, which is why this destination is so popular and has so many choices of all-inclusive hotels. But there’s plenty of room along the 60-mile shoreline, so you won’t feel crowded!
We have seven resorts in Punta Cana! One is sure to be right for you!
Puerto Plata – the OTHER great place to go in the Dominican Republic! The city is famous for tourist centers such as Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada, located to the east of San Felipe of Puerto Plata.
The only aerial tramway in the Caribbean is located in Puerto Plata. Ride up to Pico Isabel de Torres, a 793 meter high mountain within the city! The top of the mountain features a botanical garden and a replica of Christ the Redeemer, the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro.
Puerto Plata is served for the international airport of Gregorio Luperón, situated around 15 kilometers to the east of the city, near the town La Union.
The beaches are considered as one of the main tourist attractions of the city – the sands are gold and the waters blue!
The Riu properties below on the beach in Maimon Bay are about 45 minutes from the airport, and about 5 miles (9km) from Puerto Plata.
Club Med Punta Cana – great for families, this beautiful property sits on a great beach and has a ramp/skateboard park!
