Genting Hong Kong has celebrated the official river conveyance of Genting Dream, the newest ship for the Dream Cruises line. The river conveyance marks the official start of Genting Dream’s journey from her birthplace at the Meyer Werft shipyard to her first home in Guangzhou, China. The ship will begin service on November 13th, 2016.

Carnival Corporation has announced that its cruise joint venture in China has signed a non-binding memorandum of agreement to order the industry’s first new cruise ships built in China for the Chinese market. The deal is subject to several conditions including closing of the joint venture, financing and other key terms.

With a large number of cruise passengers expected to arrive at the country’s ports, Qatar Tourism Authority, in co-ordination with the ministry of interior and Qatar Ports Management Company – Mwani Qatar, have announced new measures to facilitate their disembarkation and entry for a seamless tourism experience. Officials from the three entities have confirmed that, thanks to enhanced technology and close collaboration between cruise operators and security officials, cruise passengers will be able to disembark within minutes and begin enjoying their on-shore excursions.

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced strategic changes to its brand leadership team to further align the company’s organisational structure with its goal to drive sustained growth and profitability. Bob Binder has been appointed president and chief executive of Oceania Cruises, in addition to his current role as vice chairman of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, which he has held since 2011.

Silversea has revealed the appointment of Roberto Martinoli as chief executive, effective from Monday, September 19th. Martinoli, a board member of Silversea since 2013, becomes chief executive after an extensive, and successful career in the cruise and shipping industry.

Fathom has added two Cuba sailing dates for fall 2016 – the result of strong pent-up demand by travellers choosing to take a cruise vacation to explore Cuba with Fathom, the only US cruise line sailing from the US to one of the most desired destinations in the Caribbean. The additional cruises will take place the weeks of Sunday, October 9th, and Sunday, November 6th,  Fathom’s MV Adonia will return to Miami on the following Sunday for each of the cruises.

Carnival Corporation has signed a memorandum of agreement with leading German and Finnish shipbuilders Meyer Werft and Meyer Turku to deliver three additional next-generation cruise ships that will be fully powered by Liquefied Natural Gas. Carnival Corporation said two of the new LNG-powered ships are designated for its Carnival Cruise Line, and will be built by Meyer Turku at its shipyard in Turku, Finland, with delivery dates expected in 2020 and 2022.
